It all began when drummer Bill Ray had 15 minutes left on the clock in Spotless Digital Productions of Ocean Beach, CA. "I wanted to play on drums what I believed to be "a song", like verse/chorus/verse/chorus etc...." says Bill. "The first track ended up being the song "Strange Blue", and the second from that day turned into "Forever"."
San Diego wunderkind Sven-Erik Seaholm further catered to the idea of such an open-ended collaboration and assisted in the recording of 15 other "performances".
Bill then sent the tracks to Neil MacPherson, with whom he had spent two years with in the funk rock band Tubby, and the end result is an amalgamation of two creative forces with something to definitely prove. You see, at the time of the recording, Bill and Neil were both feeling the effects of the current recession; the state of the economy if you will.....(You need a nap...THEN FIRE ZE MISSILES)
What you hear are "songs" built from the drum parts up. There were no melodies in existence during the tracking of the drum parts. Just purely extemporaneous ideas that cropped up in BR's head as he navigated through the geometry visualized. Neil carefully and thoughtfully composed music around the girders and framework to put forth that which you are hearing right now. This is truly a unique and different approach towards creating music.
